Yoga for the Body

Practising yoga postures (or asana) on a regular basis will improve muscle strength and tone and, unlike some other physical activity, when practised correctly, poses no risk of injury.  Flexibility and mobility in the joints are increased.  Yoga has a positive effect on the breathing, digestion and internal organs - all vital to the overal health and wellbeing.

Yoga for the mind

Yoga means 'union' and the union of the mind with the breath brings a distinct meditative element to the practice.  This has an effect on the Central Nervous System, to reduce stress and indluce a sense of inner calm and wellbeing.  Yoga also boosts the supply of oxygen to the brain and can even enhance our confidence, contentment and concentration.

If you can breathe you can do yoga!  It is my passion to enable and guide those who 'can't do yoga' and I take pride in offering modifications and assistance to ensure classes are as inclusive as possible.  Regardless of weight, age, flexibility, strength and previous yoga experience, there is a yoga practice suitable for you.  

Yoga for health

Yoga, coupled with simple lifestyle improvements, can help prevent illness, disease and other serious conditions.  Weight bearing exercise is known to preserve the bone density, thereby reducing the risk of osteoporosis (thinning of the bones).  The reduction of stress is a major factor when trying to prevent illness.  Yoga practice can lower the heart rate and blood pressure, reducing the risk of heart disease and also boost the immune system.  

Yoga Therapy

In yoga philosophy, illness takes its root in the mental/emotional sphere.  Therefore in order to combat physical illness we need to bring those energies back into balance.  Through a combination of gentle cleansing techniques, simple breathing exercises, some movements (asana) and other practices, this can be achieved.  Powerful negative emotions can often contribute to blockages and imbalances and this is all taken into consideration.  Susan is quite unique in that she is an expert at using the Astrological Birth Map in order to achieve deep reaching insight and understanding of the psyche.  This method would only be deployed upon request from client.
